Spotlight: Showed promise on soft ground on debut; proved suited by drop back to 7f in Sandown handicap (good to firm) most recently, holding on by half a length and taking record to 2151; bred to do better still, being a sibling to two Group 1 scorers for his connections; respected up just 2lb.
Spotlight: Thrice-raced gelding who readily justified favouritism in Haydock maiden (7f, good) most recently, building on his second-place finishes; bred to prove a lot better than his opening mark, being by Dubawi and the first foal of his connections' triple Foret winner One Master; promising contender.
Spotlight: Yet to encounter ground softer than good; far from discredited from unfavourable draw upped to 1m in the Britannia at Royal Ascot last time; progressive over 7f otherwise and registered a C&D success, narrowly beating a hat-trick seeker, in his only other start this season; remains of interest.
Spotlight: Odds-on for his maiden/novice starts, producing form figures of 211, most recently defying a penalty in comfortable fashion at Chepstow (good) and taking 7f record to 2-2; hasn't made any leaps in terms of RPRs but he brings potential to handicaps.
Spotlight: Unraced on going softer than good; Listed winner as a 2yo and, dropped back from Classic level, ran respectably in the Jersey Stakes (7f Group 3; fared best of the near-side group) at Royal Ascot most recently; that latest effort has received several boosts since; clear possibilities on handicap debut, provided the cards drop right (usually held up in rear).
Spotlight: Nicely bred gelding who ran well in small-field handicap at Salisbury (6f, good to firm) most recently, taking record to 112; the form of his maiden/novice wins (7f, good) has substance; goes into deeper waters but is open to further improvement.
Spotlight: Campaigned only over 6f; narrowly beat Yah Mo Be There at York (good) on 2yo debut; 0-5 subsequently but his two efforts since being gelded suggest this new trip is worth exploring; could go well.
Spotlight: Godolphin gelding whose productive spell (at 6f-1m) featured wins in Doncaster sales race and Meydan conditions event; has become exposed since and came up short in Newmarket handicap (6f) most recently.
Spotlight: Two runs at Sandown (7f, good to firm) since handicapping and wearing a hood, scoring readily in June but only fourth in the July race won by Mudbir; pedigree suggests she should do better still and take well to Goodwood (best sibling landed the Stewards' Cup); not written off.
Spotlight: Form dipped in Royal Ascot handicap over 1m last time; solid record otherwise but his spring efforts suggest some improvement is required to land this warm race; headgear worn the last twice is removed.
Spotlight: Bounced back to form at Epsom (7f, good) one month ago, taking record to 3-6; faces a stiffer assignment off new mark in this grade but the track looks a plus, as he should take well to Goodwood.
Spotlight: Two wins at Chester (7.5f, soft/good) since being gelded, taking form figures on turf to 711 and overall strike-rate to 3-6; raced mainly at sharp/turning, left-handed tracks and goes into unknown territory on this right-handed course; otherwise, open to further progress.
Spotlight: Form figures read 31227, most recently midfield in a Leicester race (6f) that's worked out well; ran creditably at Newmarket (sole 7f attempt) earlier in May and remains an unexposed sort; not dismissed.
Spotlight: Record of 0-7 since debut win; had Group form last year but isn't particularly solid on 2025 handicap results, for all that the latest seemed encouraging; James Doyle prefers the other Wathnan Racing runner.
Spotlight: Useful last term, the highlight a Group 3 win at Newmarket (7f, soft); has much weaker claims on 2025 form and still needs to prove he's trained on; admittedly may derive some benefit from the switch to a handicap.
Spotlight: No further progress since reappearance success (7f, good) and has a bit to find with Yah Mo Be There on Jersey Stakes running last time; won at Doncaster (7f, soft) in last handicap attempt but is now 20lb higher.
Spotlight: Unraced on slower than good; gelded after final 2yo start and has a strike-rate of 3-5 (over 6f/7f) this term, with plausible excuses for the two defeats, latest switched to Tapeta and the other over C&D when repeatedly denied room; back on turf he may still have more to offer.

The shortlist is headed by the superbly bred contenders HEADMASTER and Mudbir who both have the potential to rate a lot higher still. The selection goes handicapping off an attractive weight, while the second choice remains interesting after just a 2lb rise. Yah Mo Be There (third pick) holds a good chance provided he gets some luck in this big field, while C&D scorer Consolidation warrants respect and several others are progressive or still unexposed.[Steve Boow] Show less
